BALLROOM with Wendy Johnson and Steve Vasco

Wendy Johnson, former New Zealand Ballroom & Latin champion is a world-renowned coach, choreographer, emcee and adjudicator.  In addition to her ballroom training, she has had 10 years of ballet training. Among Ms. Johnson’s many achievements, she is a three-time winner of Choreographer of the Year, North America (2002-2004) and placed 7th in the British Amateur Latin Championships. Ms. Johnson has judged in New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Germany, England, Finland, Norway, France and the United States. Additionally she is co-organizer of the San Diego Dancesport Championships and the Holiday Dance Classic. Ms. Johnson has appeared in numerous television shows including Grease Day USA (1978) and 25 episodes of the Merv Griffin Show, AM San Francisco (1985), the Late Show (New Zealand), KPBS Legends Show (2002). Wendy is a choreographer and coach for Cheryl Burke, Nick Kosovich,Tony Dovolani, Alec Mazo & Edyta Sliwinska, and many U.S. and World Champions.

Steve Vasco, Originally from Queens, NY, Steve has had a successful career in the Entertainment Industry for 14 Yrs, with credits in Music Consulting/Production, Dance Instruction/Choreography and Performances throughout the world. On the competition floor, Steve has won numerous titles in various styles including the prestigious professional Salsa competition at world famous “The Mayan” in Los Angeles, California receiving the award “LA Hottest Salsa Dancer”. Steve has traveled the world, winning titles in Latin American dancing and was featured in the PBS show “Championship Ballroom Dancing” with his Pro/Am partner after winning the World Rhythm title in 2005. Steve has Choreographed for numerous hit TV shows including “Dancing with The Stars” as well as the Tony Award winning show “Swing” and The Motion Picture “Shut up and Dance”. He’s appeared as Principal Dancer in “Dance with Me”, the touring company “Salsa All-Stars” and on Stage with Christopher Caliendo in the show “Tango Americano”.
